Bedford Girls’ School, Science Laboratories

Refurbishment of existing science labs and creating a new Innovation Centre

Project Overview

Conversion of an under-utilised space and refurbishment of existing science labs, creating STEM inspired learning space and an iCreate flexible learning area

The project consisted of 5 chemistry laboratories, prep room, staff work room, Head of Sciences offices, chemical store and an iCreate work space boasting a large 9 LED screen display encased by a contemporary glass wall.

The Challenge

The project was managed to a tight 7 week programme during the summer holidays.  Careful and thorough planning needed to be carried out to ensure site constraints and service diversions were dealt with ahead of the main works to avoid any delays during the tight programme window.

Modern and new design philosophy’s of the laboratory equipment and furniture were implemented and the design approval process needed careful management to ensure it adhered to the school’s expectations.
