The new Science Block at Bedford Girls’ School has been nominated for an Architects Journal Award!

We have been working with Bedford Girls’ School since 2010 on many versatile schemes. We are proud to have been involved on this Science Block project acting as Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and CDM-PD. The works involved the renovation of 6 laboratories, 1 prep room, a locker area, chemical store and staff room.  At the heart of the Science Block an “icreate space” was formed with a 9 screen LCD TV wall, an illuminated, coloured, LED ceiling light feature and height adjustable tables.  A modern curved glass wall encompasses the space giving a modern look and an interactive element to the hub, which can be drawn, making this a key feature of the space.

TMV Architects worked alongside furniture designers (Envoplan) to create bespoke furniture throughout the new department.  These included height adjustable tables and lightweight free-standing pouffes, with the School’s pantones being highlighted throughout the design.

The project was undertaken in a tight 8-week window during the Summer holidays and was successfully completed on time, with careful project management of the delivery.
