Are you ready to experience the new Bear Grylls Adventure?

Goodrich acted as project managers for Merlin Entertainments on the new indoor skydiving experience which makes up part of the new Bear Grylls Adventure Park at the NEC in Birmingham.

Goodrich have extensive experience of managing projects within the leisure industry, but specifically indoor skydiving facilities. Paul Riley and Huw Thomas delivered project management expertise on the NEC scheme and Paul managed all of iFly’s UK facilities – Milton Keynes, Manchester and Basingstoke.

The NEC free fall indoor wind tunnel was constructed within a very small and constrained area within the NEC complex.  The works had to be carefully co-ordinated alongside the other exhibits that make up the Bear Grylls Adventure. The NEC is a busy 24 hour facility so great care and attention was required to meet the restrictions placed upon the development.

Planning was granted in March 2018 and the project completed in good time for Bear Grylls and a number of his celebrity friends to open the experience on 1st October 2018 – the quickest UK tunnel build to date.  We are proud to have worked with Merlin Entertainments on this thrill seeking project.  The park also offers the Bear Grylls Adventure base camp, high ropes experience, indoor free falling and a diving with sharks experience.  The park has been designed closely with Bear himself and is aimed at ages of 15 and above – be sure to give it a try and do think of Goodrich when you experience your unassisted flight!

Goodrich have provided Project and cost management on other leisure projects too, including the American Air Museum Reconfiguration at Imperial War Museum Duxford, the Bradgate Park Visitors Centre opened by David Attenborough and a number of other sporting facilities. Goodrich are also happy to report that we are providing support to iFly on a further two Indoor Skydiving tunnels planned for Bristol and London.
