As we head into Year 4 of our partnership with Planet Mark, we are immensely proud of the progress we have made as a business. We have committed to another year of being more conscious of how our operations affect the environment and to put aside time to support our local charities and communities.
Year 4 showed impressive improvements such as a 43.7% reduction in business travel emissions, with a 54.9% reduction in diesel car emissions. Overall, the company experienced a 24.5% reduction in tCO2e compared to last year. Between the 4 project pods, we clocked up an impressive 405 hours of volunteering through charity bike rides, maintenance work at local schools, beach cleans, volunteering at donation centres and charity walks.
There were, however, some areas of the report where the figures increased from the previous year, such as building emissions which jumped by 47.1% (10.4 to 15.3 tCO2e). This increase was directly impacted by the business expanding into the Southwest with the acquisition of the Bristol office. As a growing company, our emissions will inevitably fluctuate due to more staff and office locations, but we are determined to make every effort to minimise the impact of our growth.
As we look ahead to our 5th year of certification, we are excited to continue our sustainability journey alongside Planet Mark. The team are committed to taking steps to reduce the business’s carbon footprint and we hope to achieve a 5% reduction in carbon over the next year.
